The stories behind the buildings, statues and other points of interest that make Manhattan fascinating. Hello, Tom Thanks for you wonderful site. I do want to mention that trains never ran down Park Ave at grade. The tracks were below but somewhat covered and had vents in the middle of the avenue for the steam engines.

When the Central electrified I think the avenue was completely covered. It tell how Wilgus configured the tracks and electrification without interrupting train service. At least to an old NY freak like me. Best regards, Douglas. I recall the "Two Potato Bar" in the early 's.

It had a reputation as being a dingy, seedy and drug infested little bar that mostly attracted gay African-Americans,hustlers,trannys and local undesirables at that notorious West-end of Christopher Street. That's wild because my memories of the place were always 1 That it was called 'One Potato, Two potato'.

C'mon people Big pot bellied Harley guys in leather ogling each other, some of the nicest people, i must say.
